Doesn’t feel like mine

So I have been so down the last few days when I think about school. Although this class is mine it still doesn’t feel like its mine. Since spring break I have been the real official teacher of a fourth grade class. Although I long term subbed for three months and am now the real teacher there are some kids who do not take me seriously. It’s really discouraging. They had a beautiful talented teacher last year and part of this year and they always remind me of that. No matter how many times I tell them that she was a great teacher but has moved away and I am their teacher now they still tell me that I do things differently or ask if they should still do what she had them do. There are 5 days left of school and I hope I get to come back next year. I want to have a class I can really call mine. I know this has been a hard year of transitions for them. 9-10 year olds need more stability than this. Especially these kids who look for the routine and stability at school because they don’t get it at home.

I hate to be a downer but I get really bogged down about this sometimes. :(

I want it to really be mine.

Summer is in the air…

I got some sad news today. Big Blue was sold. I’m am thankful to have celebrated his 30th birthday with him last summer. Camp will not be the same without our 1981 ford econoline van. He had so much charm. One semi decent mirror helped build character of driver and passengers. I loved climbing in and smelling the ancient vinyl seats. The buzzing he made when the key was in the ignition. The radio that made noise but did not have a functioning display. The list goes on. I almost wish now he had just fallen in the lake last summer when he took a little slide than be sold today. That way he could be with us forever. You will be

In other news - I have gotten back into teacher blogging this evening and am thinking about becoming part of the teachers pay teachers community. I will need to spend a lot of time creating materials but it would definitely be nice to have that little extra income each month - if I ever sold anything.

The school year is almost over. We have just a few days left and the kiddos are going hay wire!! I hope I can keep things interesting as the school year draws to an end. Tomorrow we are golf to do a different type of assessment for multiplication. Math hunt is the name. I hope they enjoy it. Rather than having a traditional assessment I have made a page for them that has 9 empty squares for work and am going to place 9 2 digit multiplication problems around the room. They are all labeled a-I each square on their paper is labeled the same way. They will have to find the matching problem and solve it. I hope they enjoy being able to move around the room.

Ok I better get off to bed. I feel like tomorrow will be a late night and I do not want to be drained like I was today.

I got my first teacher paycheck today… was this a poor choice? I feel like I am really stuck on this. I know my checks suck right now because im salary for the rest of the school year which means im working for 2 months and being paid over 3 months, so a larger percentage of my check is differed than normally would be, it just sucks. How am I supposed to be able to provide things for my classroom if i can hardly pay rent/bills? Good thing I really like my job or I would be looking for another.

Am I a little tipsy right now? Yes. Do I miss partying all of the time and being awesome at speed quarters in college? Totally! I hope that now Trent and I have weekends off that Saturday or Friday (depending on wether or not he has to work) we can have a fun night where we do something crazy.
I miss college us. We were awesome! ;)

I want to be like our old delves going hard until who knows when. Trent passed lit like an hour ago.

New Life

I feel like I have a totally different life than I had two weeks ago! I got a job doing what I am passionate about and went to uni for! I am so happy to be back with the class I was with in the fall and to be able to say I am a teacher and that they are my students! :)

With all of the excitement comes a lot of stress. State testing is coming up this month and we are working hard getting ready for that. We are also very busy learning about our new friends: frogs, crabs, and millipedes!

For the rest of the night, I will be preparing for science and math next week. I am happy to have started my career that I love.

Stellar Savings!

I LOVE COUPONING!!! and kaylie’s discount ($13)..

I just got back from Target. Today we saved $95. After thinking about all of the items we purchased I feel like we stole…

For $62.28 we bought:

1 loaf of bread
1 Gal of milk
10 single serv. yoplat yogurt
2 - 4 packs of Activia yogurt
8 cans of progresso soup
2 lbs of ground turkey
1 pork tenderloin
4 single serv. pulled pork sandwich fillings
1 bag frozen tyson chicken breasts
3 packs of gum
4 boxes of cereal
1 17.5 oz package of peanut butter cookie mix
4 hot pocket snackers - really good if you havent had them, but expensive w/o coups
2 mens deodorant
1 mascara
2 pkgs cinnamon rolls
4 - 12 packs coke
3 - 12 packs dr. pepper

I feel so proud!

My plants are coming along… I planted more things this week! I planted tulips and I planted strawberries. I hope everything grows well! My compost on the other hand is rotting instead of decomposing.. It has gotten too wet. I added loads of absorbent brown materials to see if that would help - I guess I will know in the next days if the smell starts turning around..

I had my first day off since I dont know when.. It was awesome! The best part is that Trent also had the day off! I realized that we really NEVER get to hang out. We had such a great time. i got my hair cut as well! Thank goodness - it had been wayyyy too long! I did have to work today which was a bummer because we hired a new guy to work saturdays and some how i still have worked every saturday since he has been with us. Oh well…

On the down side, trent and i have really bad schedules. I got to hang out with him some yesterday, but we pretty much wont see eachother for more than an hour or sleeping until Tuesday. I really really hate it, but know that some day things will be different and way better :) stick in there babe.

The final picture is what i have been working on all night. I finally had to stop because my back was killing me, but i am giving puzzles a go. I got two 1000 piece puzzles on clearance at Michael’s. They are a challenge and I love it! Ill post a picture when im done.

Tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the week. I dont have to work - it would be better if trent didnt have to either.. but its couponing day! Im excited!

Lonely nights

I wish my baby good luck tomorrow. I know this is selfish but I’m tired of falling asleep alone. It’s hard. I’m not good at it and i worry about him until he gets home so I don’t even sleep well.

I have been super busy today. Seeing as Sunday is my only day off work, I feel like its the only day I get anything done. I am still sad we have not had much of a chance to decorate our apartment yet, however its in the works. Last night I came across a menu board for the kitchen that I loved. So, I made my own today - it was super easy because I was luck enough to find a cute frame - plus I had a Michaels coupon :) I don’t know if I will add anything to it yet, but I am happy to have the hard part done.

In other news, my composting is unerway and I am not sure how it is going… I think it is having a hard time getting warm because it decided to become winter a couple weeks ago.. since then, it has lost any warmth it had :( however, I am sure it will pick up this spring.

Today Kaylie and I went to Lowes. I picked up some seeds to plant in a few weeks! I hope I am not going overboard for a novice gardener without a garden, but I will give it my best shot. I did get a broccoli plant and a rosemary plant already growing as well. Wish me luck!

Last night I did pick up some pages to finish up my coupon binder. I am LOVING couponing - I can spend hours cutting out coupons and planning out shopping scenarios for future shopping trips. Between coupons and Kaylie’s discount, we are saving loads of money! Last weekend we saved over $90 and this weekend we didn’t buy much stuff but saved $35.

Last weekend we dicided it was time to get our recycling picked up and undercontrol. There was a sale on plastic bins, so we took advantage of that and got two. One for plastic/glass and one for aluminum. So far it is working out well, I just need to order a can crusher. I love that everyone is pitching in, even Trent. I am so lucky that he puts up with my silly projects and sometimes embraces them for himself.

Weight Watchers: I have lost about 20 pounds. I feel like I have come to a plateau. I really need to stay on it this week and get over this hump, but I totally feel like i can do it. I love the changes I am seeing. I went through some old clothes that I was able to fit into before all of this extra weight appeared and I am having great success! I can even fit into my floral skirt again :)

In other news, I am really hoping for a major change in the job front soon. I am so thankful that I have been able to work at my dad’s computer shop, but its not my passion and there is a good chance I will have a teaching job soon *fingerscrossed*

Other than that I am really excited for Vegas in about a month and am hoping to cook more dinners for my “family” this week.

Yay!

I am proud of me. I have been using Weight Watchers since Christmas and even though I weigh every week, I am having a hard time knowing changes are happening. I was so, so, so excited when I went jean shopping today and i have lost almost 2 sizes!!! I am so excited and am super motivated to keep going. I want to be back to my pre-college days, and even smaller.

In other news, I am really hoping to have a teaching job soon. I am really tired of computer repair. It is really stressful for me because of my lack of confidence in it and I am also really worn out only having Sundays off… bless my life I have a job.
